About us
About us
Guild Conservation was formed by Robert Strong to answer the requirement for an approachable, end-to-end professional building Conservation and Restoration specialist. With expertise spanning a variety of buildings from the ecclesiastical to the vernacular. From our home here in Dorset we are comfortably placed to serve the West Country, London and the Southern counties.
As well as catering for national holders of built heritage, Robert realised the need for the owners and keepers of private period homes and the many smaller listed and historic properties to have access to a company that could supply professional advice, alongside reputable and experienced trades and craftspeople.
Having worked in this sector for over 40 years, Robert has acquired a formidable working relationship with fellow national craftspeople for whom ‘Guild’ employ on a regular basis supported by a repertoire of local trades and crafts.
By following best practice in the building conservation approach, our ethos has always been client focused rather than profit orientated. Thus, Guild Conservation are looked upon as trusted partners in delivering a quality service to their client’s conservation building requirements.

At Guild Conservation, our extensive expertise in rural craft skills allows us to incorporate traditional techniques into ecologically friendly or heritage-inspired build projects. Our experience spans a range of methods, including timber frame construction, wattle and daub, cobb, clay boarding and rammed earth flooring.
We are always willing and enthusiastic to discuss and work alongside clients who wish to benefit from our skill sets by joining in on certain workshops given by our craftsmen. Hopefully this will contribute to the ongoing maintenance and preservation of the property by benefitting from the client’s direct involvement.
